ABOUT PYGIRLS
PyGirls is a weekly, free of charge online class for girls aged 12 – 14 where they learn how to code in Python. The online programming environment is fully hosted by BCG. PyGirls is a grassroots, employee-driven initiative. The people behind PyGirls are passionate about growing the participation rate of women in STEM and believe that it must start by giving girls the opportunity to foster their interest and curiosity. Our founder’s inspiration is his own daughter, who was 12 when the program started.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are passionate about offering this opportunity to as many participants as we can possibly inspire to join our program. To scale the PyGirls initiative we are looking for additional trainers. This role includes:
• Teaching beginner-level Python in weekly 1h online sessions
• Leading a breakout room with up to 5 participants
• Guiding the participants through the curriculum provided by the PyGirls Core Team
• Reporting learning progress and feedback back to lead trainers and PyGirls Core Team
This is of course a paid opportunity.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Most importantly, we are looking for people who share our passion for advancing women in STEM. You would make a great PyGirls trainer if you fulfill the following:
• You are available to join a Zoom session Tuesdays and/or Thursdays 6.00-7.00pm Swiss time
• You are fluent in German (we also offer classes in English – if you are interested, please contact us, and we will get back to you when we are looking for more English-speaking trainers)
• You have a passion for female empowerment and breaking gender-related biases
• You have a keen interest in learning Python and are willing to engage in self-paced learning - existing Python skills are a plus, but not a must as classes are beginner-level
• You have a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and eagerness to work with children/teenagers and help them develop their self-confidence
• You are great at explaining abstract processes with easy words, and have a high level of patience
